Even though the Marlins had 2 superb starts from Caleb Smith and Zac Gallen, the fish still fell to the free-falling New York Mets.
Caleb Smith started the series going 6 inning, allowing 3 hits and 2 Earned Runs, the same game the marlin's offense exploded for 8 runs including 2 home runs. Zac Gallen followed Fridays's win with a strong start, 5 innings, 4 hits, and 2 Earned Runs, but the bullpen couldn't hold off the Mets offense allowing 2 more runs in the 8th to lose the game. Game 3 was a tough game for All-Star Sandy Alcantara, allowing 9 hits, 4 Earned Runs in 6 innings. The Marlins could muster much offense for the last 2 games only scoring 4 runs.
Now the Marlins look to Rookie sensation Jordan Yamamoto to stop this 2 game skid against the Padres. Jordan has a 1.24 ERA over 30 innings along with 29 strikeouts. Trevor Richards and Caleb Smtih will be starting games 2 and 3 respectfully.
