The Marlins didn't have the hottest first few games of the season. The Marlins starting pitching was adequate keeping the games in hand but with the Marlins only scoring 4 runs, all on solo home runs, the offense just wasn't clicking.
That changed Saturday night, The Offense exploded. The Marlins combined for 16 hits and 7 runs, beating the Rockies for their 1st win of the season. Martin Prado and Miguel Rojas had big games with 3 hits each. Pablo Lopez also had a decent start, giving up 3 runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
On Sunday afternoon the Marlins had a big opportunity to even the series with a win and they didn't disappoint. Sandy Alcantara pitched like an ace going 8 inning with 6 strikeouts and giving up no runs. It was a very promising start for the young right hander. New addition Jorge Alfaro had a big 2 run base hit in the fourth giving all this young staff needed to secure this game. J.T. Riddle hit his second Home Run of the Season just for a little insurance.
The Marlins pulled together to split the series after a disappointing start. Which is really encouraging for this young ball club. This is going to be a young scrappy team, giving any team they face a headache.
