Fish Recap: Opening Day 2019 Miami Marlins v Colorado Rockies

Opening Day 2018 started with a Home Run on the first pitch to the Ian Happ and the Chicago Cubs. After the first pitch this year was declared a strike, 25,000 fans gave a collective sigh of relief.

With the help of a little defense by Garrett Cooper and a spectacular double play at 3rd base, The Marlins kept the Rockies scoreless until the 4th inning. The Rockies brought 8 batters up in the inning and 2 errors, committed by Miguel Rojas and Louis Brinson, helped the Rockies to 4 runs in the 4th.

Held hitless until the 4th, the Marlins finally got their first hit of the season by veteran Starlin Castro. The Rockies scored two more insurance runs in the 5th to go up 6 to 0.

2 Pinch Hit Home Runs, by Riddle and Walker, provided the Marlins with their only scoring plays until Starting Catcher Jorge Alfaro hit an Oppisite Field Home Run in the bottom of the 9th.

Opening Day might not have started as Marlins Fans have hoped, but patience is the name of the game. This year is about nurishing the young talent. South Florida seems excited. Marlins fans had that place rocking which was something missing for the last few years.
