New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was listed on his team's injury report for a right throwing shoulder issue and listed as "limited" for a hypothetical practice scenario on Wednesday (January 28) ahead of Super Bowl LX.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel downplayed the injury, claiming he tries "not to have a whole lot of concern" and "just want to try to prepare the football team and make sure that everybody's ready and that we all have a plan" while addressing reporters on Thursday (January 29) via Yahoo Sports. Maye, 23, a finalist for the 2025 Associated Press NFL MVP award, had previously said he was "feeling good" and planned "to get some extra rest" during a radio interview on Tuesday (January 27).

"I really don't think it was from the game, but just the build-up from throwing — this is what, including training camp, 30 weeks straight of throwing, four days a week. It can add up. I got some extra rest, and I'm feeling good and ready to go for the Super Bowl," Maye said.

The Patriots also listed linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle) and edge rusher Harold Landry (knee) as "limited" in a hypothetical practice scenario. Maye, a former No. 3 overall pick in 2024, threw for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 354 of 492 passing (72% completions), while leading the Patriots to a 14-3 record, their first AFC East Division title since 2019 and their first Super Bowl appearance in seven years during his second NFL season.

The Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on February, which will be a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, which saw New England defeat Seattle 28-24.
