President Donald Trump took credit for fans at Super Bowl LIX booing pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Swift, who was supporting her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, garnered a negative reaction when she was shown on the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome, which Trump presumed was due to her endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, as well as her past criticism of him.
"The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account, acknowledging the Chiefs' blowout loss. "She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!"
Swift, who was born in Pennsylvania and had previously claimed to be an Eagles fan prior to dating Kelce, appeared to be caught off guard by the negative response, mouthing, "What's going on?" to rapper Ice Spice. The singer has been the target of some NFL fans who have complained about the attention she's received for attending Kelce's games and the stadium appeared to be majority Eagles fans, with the Chiefs getting booed loudly during their team introduction prior to kickoff.
"He always protects her and it broke his heart," a source close to Kelce told the Daily Mail while addressing the incident with Swift. "He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn't help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this."
Philadelphia defeated Kansas City, 40-22, to win its second Super Bowl in franchise history.
