The Broward State Attorney's Office announcing it's dropping all charges against ex-Miami Commissioner Alex de la Portilla accused of taking bribes in exchange for voting to approve a sports complex. After his arrest in September of 2023, de la Portilla claimed his innocence, saying he was the victim of a political witch hunt. Prosecutors say they did not have sufficient evidence to charge him with illegally accepting $245-thousand-dollars. He was arrested on 14 counts along with his co-defendant William Riley Jr.
