Nearly One Million Floridians Will Soon Be Ineligible For Medicaid

The end of the COVID-19 national and public health emergencies means a Medicaid provision, which keeps people continuously enrolled, will end as well.

Patti Grogan with the Florida Department of Children and Families says they've determined that 900-thousand Floridians will no longer be eligible, 21-percent of which are children between 5 and 18.

She says their first move is to drop ineligible recipients who haven't used benefits over the past year.

Grogan says they're reaching out to Medicaid recipients who could lose coverage about their options going forward.

The Medicaid continuous coverage provision is set to end on March 31st, with states getting a year to go through and drop anyone who's no longer eligible.
