Tokyo 2020 Olympics Postponed

What started in China in late 2019, has made its way around the world and now has a tight grasp on the sports industry, as we know it, worldwide.

After IOC President Thomas Bach and Prime Minster Abe met over the future of this summer's games, they've decided the 2020 summer Olympics, scheduled to start on July 24th, in Tokyo, Japan, have officially been postponed. The Olympics joined a laundry list of leagues and events worldwide, including the NBA, NHL, MLB, The Masters golf tournament and the NCAA basketball tournaments, that were either postponed or cancelled outright due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This move by the Olympic Committee was the right thing to do, because no Olympic Games, summer or winter, are worth putting the athletes, their families and loved ones, as well as the many fans lives who attend, in danger.

The summer Olympic games have been pushed until at least 2021, but will be played no later than summer 2021.

Although the games will now take place in 2021, it was agreed upon by the two leaders to keep the name Tokyo 2020.
