A-Rod's Nephew, Joe Dunand "Lil Joe" turning heads for the Miami Marlins

Alex Rodriguez "A-Rod" is one of the most impressive baseball players in MLB history. Fans, as well as his former teammate, Derek Jeter, are now hoping A-Rod's nephew will bring the same level of talent to the Miami Marlins.

Joe Dunand "Lil' Joe", the nephew of A-Rod, has been surrounded by the game of baseball since he was a kid. He grew up in the clubhouse watching players such as Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, and Robinson Cano up close. Lil Joe then played for North Carolina State and now the Jupiter Hammerheads, leading the team in runs and total bases. The CBS 12 news team was able to catch up with Lil Joe the other day and discuss how he's turning heads for the Florida State League. Watch that interview here.

"Lil Joe" was drafted by the Miami Marlins back June of 2017. A-Rod celebrated with his nephew sharing memories of him as a child and how fast time went leading up to his shot at the pros.

A-Rod shared that seeing his nephew get drafted by the Marlins is one of the happiest moments of his life.

"It certainly is surreal that the nephew of one of the most successful Yankees of all time (A-Rod) is now playing for a team owned by one of the most beloved Yankees of all time (Derek Jeter). If Durand can even come close to living up to his Uncle's talents (which we're sure he will), Marlins fans may just have something special..." -CBS 12

I recently sat down with new manager of the Miami Marlins and former Yankees legend, Don Mattingly. Catch that interview below!
